Mango Wood Storage Crates

These gorgeous solid wood bushel boxes are skilfully hand made from sustainable mango wood. They are an elegant way to store all sorts of bits and pieces from bathroom items to magazines.

This product has been organised and imported on our behalf by a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation. Membership of the WFTO is limited to organisations that demonstrate a 100% commitment to Fair Trade and apply its Principles of Fair Trade. This means that we can be sure that the producer has been paid a decent wage, their working conditions are safe and pleasant, and that no children are exploited in the process.

Mango trees are initially grown for their fruit but once the trees reach a certain size and age, they stop bearing fruit. It is then that the trees can be cut down and used to create wood products. The removal of the old trees makes space for farmers to plant new mango trees. This not only means that none of the wood is wasted but offers a supplementary income to mango wood farmers. Mango wood is a hard wood that comes in many shades from light to dark.
